Career

Ranjini was born in Singapore as Sasha to Selvaraj and Lilly, belonging to fourth generation residents of Singapore, with roots from Tirunelveli.[3] She was introduced to films by famous director Bharathiraja, a friend of her father. Bharathiraja gave her the screen name of 'Ranjini' for his 1985 film Muthal Mariyathai. Ranjini, whose family was in Singapore then had flown down to Chennai taking a break from studies with the hope that the shooting would get over within two weeks.[4]

Ranjini is a famous, popular and successful actress who is known for her commendable performances for essaying challenging roles in both commercially successful and critically acclaimed Malayalam and Tamil movies. She is an Indian Television Actress, Television Presenter, Model, Film Actress, Singer & Radio Jockey who known for her work in Television Serials as well as in Malayalam films. Ranjini Haridas is a household name in Kerala. She shot to fame after winning the Miss Kerala crown in the year 2000.

Her first Malayalam film was Swathi Thirunal in 1987, directed by Lenin Rajendran. The film was a critical success and she won The Cinema Express Award for Best Actress. She went on to act in Malayalam films like Chithram, Mukunthetta Sumitra Vilikkunnu (1988) and Kottayam Kunjachan (1990).

Ranjini quit acting in films at the peak of her career to move to London, where she continued her studies.[5] Her last film was Customs Diary (1993), directed by TS Suresh Babu. In London, she also did a degree in credit management and later acquired a law degree. She also worked for the BBC for a short time.[4] She is a graduate lawyer and is currently working as a joint director in an overseas education institution in Kochi, Kerala. She is married to Malayali businessman Pierre Kombara.[4]

Ranjini was in the committee of 'Nirbhaya-Kochi', an initiative of district administration under Ernakulam District Collector, MG Rajamanickam IAS (The Welfare for Women & Children Safety) in 2014. She was also in the founding committee of 'Stree', a project for Women and Health under Maradu municipality in 2016. She regularly appears as a panelist on TV debates for various social topics on National, Malayalam and Tamil Channels. In 2018, she was one of 12 elite panelists invited by The National Commission for Women to a discussion on sexual harassment in the workplace.

Ranjini is known for her voice against The Supreme Court verdict on women-entry at Sabarimala.She was also instrumental in stopping TV counselling shows ie. Nijangal & Solvathellam Unmai.

Ranjitha (born Sri Valli)[1] is an Indiansannyasi and former film and television actress. She has acted in a number of Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films.[2][3][4]

Her first film was a Telugu film, Kadapa Reddemma. She made her Tamil film debut in the 1992 Bharathiraja film, Nadodi Thendral. She played lead roles in Tamil films from 1992 until 2000.

She wed Army Major Rakesh Menon in 2000 and retired from acting after her wedding. However she made a comeback in 2003, and been acting in supporting roles in films and lead roles in television shows.

In 2010, she was met with widespread controversy after alleged footage of her with self-proclaimed godmanNithyananda was leaked by Sun TV.[1][5][6][7][8][9][10]Ranjitha has dismissed claims that the footage shows any inappropriate behavior with Nithyananda. Ranjitha also held a press conference to announce [that], 'The video is fabricated. I am not the person in it. In fact, at that time, I was in a room that I was sharing with another female devotee in the Dhyanapeetham ashram. I blame myself for this. It has affected my career though some people still have faith in me.'

Ranjitha also alleged that “some vested interests, including politicians” were responsible for associating her with the footage and that she “was threatened not to speak about the tapes. Vested interests have been threatening me not to divulge any information.”[11]

On 27 December 2013, she took up sannyasa under Swami Nithyananda.[12] She took the name 'Nithyananda Moyi' right now[when?] she is serving as a Sri Mahant at Nithyananda Dhyanapeetham.
